Patients with an impaired immune system are at greater risk of infections.
Common symptoms of infection include:
- Fever – a temperature of ≥38ᵒC
- Aching muscles
- Diarrhoea
- Headaches
- Excessive tiredness
Simple advice for patients to avoid infection are :
- Washing of hands regularly.
- Maintaining good personal hygiene, particularly the mouth and teeth.
- Avoiding people with an infection or any crowded places
- Avoiding foods that may contain harmful bacteria.
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
