Supportive care consists of treating any symptoms or complications that arise so that the patient is as comfortable as possible. In that respect it is not active treatment, but it aims to maintain quality of life for the patients.
Specific supportive care interventions for patients with AML consist of red cell and platelet transfusions, and infection management.
